Statistical distinction: these cards show the median and minimum–maximum of province-level values within SLI geographic regions. They do not represent official Gini coefficients for Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, or other combined regions. Pooling survey microdata is required for a true aggregate Gini.

Source & interpretation notes
Gini ratio measures dispersion of expenditure, with 0 representing perfect equality and 1 extreme inequality. It does not measure income level, poverty incidence, total spending or the purchasing power of a province.
Urban, rural and combined Gini are independently estimated and must not be averaged. Likewise, national Gini is not calculated by averaging provincial coefficients. Urban/rural combined may be above both subgroup values because the pooled distribution includes between-group differences.
Source vintage: March 2026 observations; BPS publication date 5 August 2026. 2025 provincial and new-Papua historical comparisons are intentionally not inferred from missing source periods. Geographic regions are organizational filters only.
SLI publishes source-attributed statistical comparisons; it does not use these measurements as political rankings, predictive risks or verified investment returns. For redistribution or commercial data licensing, check BPS usage terms.
